Terms of service

Using the service
mailchecker verifies whether an email address can receive mail. You may use it for addresses you have a lawful basis to process. You may not use it to test addresses you have obtained unlawfully, to send unsolicited mail, or to attempt to discover which addresses exist on a domain you have no relationship with.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your credentials and API keys secret, and for activity carried out with them. Tell us promptly if you believe a key has been exposed, and revoke it from your account.
Credits and payment
One credit verifies one address. Unknown results, duplicates within a file, and addresses that fail syntax checks are not charged. Plan credits renew each billing period and do not roll over; credits bought as a one-off pack do not expire.
Payments are processed by Paddle, who act as merchant of record and handle applicable sales tax or VAT.
What we do not promise
Verification reports what a mail server said at the time it was asked. A mailbox can be closed, filled or created after we ask, and some servers deliberately answer every address the same way. We report those as risky or unknown rather than guessing, but no verification service can guarantee that an address will accept mail in future.
Availability
We aim to keep the service available and will give notice of planned maintenance where we can. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
Ending your use
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend an account that is being used in breach of these terms, and will say why where we are able to.
